So excited to get our first airstreams! This "Sovereign" beauty is pretty much ready to roll . . . all she needs is a few decorative touches from some artisans I happen to know ;) Of course that is the funnest part of this project - decorating!!!
The "Excella" is our fixer upper that we've been working hard on . . . this past weekend was the electrical system and the awnings! Thank the Lord for kids who come home to visit on holidays - LOL :))). Thanks for helping!
Welcome little Peyton Grace! I'm so happy to be your Grandma and that I got to be there to welcome you into this world! Isn't she beautiful!??!
So here's how it all went down . . .
10 pm on Monday night, Hannah calls to let me know her water broke. (Our tickets were not until Thursday :/ ) I booked the next flight out, which was 7 am, arriving in Nashville at 9 am. I told Hannah she would probably have a baby before I got there. But her labor did not start until 8:30 am in the morning, when they began giving her a small amount of Pitosin. By the time I arrived at the hospital around 9:30, she was in active labor, and Peyton Grace was born at 2:33 am. Her other Grandma and I were both there to witness it all! What a miracle.
This was my first attempt at making Kombucha! I even grew my own scoby! (If you've never seen a scoby, be prepared - it's rather frightening!) I tried four different flavors, and liked them all, but I think my favorite was the Blueberry Lemon (or maybe the Mango Tangerine???) Each one was pretty unique, and some had more fizz than others.
My second batch I made Tart Cherry Lemonade, and it is now my new favorite (until I try other flavors!) The absolute secret is adding essential oils - it really gives the flavor a kick that you can't get by just adding the fruit. Yummy! :)))). And of course it also bumps up the anti-oxidants, which we all can use a little extra of ;)
P.S. My 3rd batch is brewing!
The weight of shame will cause your creative capacity to disappear. Your peripheral vision goes away and you get tunnel vision. Time to let it go. The call of God is still on you. His plans to bless you and prosper you and give you hope and a future are still intact. Let Jesus re-launch you into a future that will take your breath away and renew your vision and creative spirit! Confession: I am a perfectionist. I try to be the strong one. to do everything right. to do what I'm told. to be everyone's savior. to rescue and restore what is wrong. But guess what? I'm not strong, and I can't save anyone! (surprised? ha ha)
God has been speaking to me so much lately about my dependance on Him - about how HE'S the strong one. And as long as I try to be the strong one, He is not glorified. I’m learning to submit my weakness to God, acknowledging that I can do nothing in my own strength, it’s all through the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s not up to me to be the strong one, God is the strong one. But through Christ, I can do all things and nothing is impossible.
He’s also been speaking to me about my inheritance. About everything He has purchased for me. He wants me to walk in the fulness of that, but it requires faith. My word for 2018 is Believe. I need to walk in great faith, trusting Him.
In Corinthians chapter 15 Paul speaks about sowing and reaping. Here is my take on this passage:
So everything we offer to the Lord in weakness, He raises in strength and glory - as HE DETERMINES. We submit ourselves to the Lord in weakness, and He resurrects it in power! My problem is I strive so much in the flesh - checking off lists, duties, obligations - but flesh and blood does not inherit the kingdom. I try to do everything in my own strength, but God continues to remind me that He has already won the battle for me. He’s already paid the price. And He freely gives me my inheritance because I believe in Him.
Paul’s conclusion is in verse 58:
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, STAND FIRM. LET NOTHING MOVE YOU. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain!!!
I submit myself to the Lord and allow Him to bring about His will in my life, remembering that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek after Him. He promises the harvest if I don't give up, and He will bring the harvest as He determines. The beautiful thing is I plant some tiny little humble seed, and He causes it to become a strong plant bearing much fruit, to the glory of the Father.
Only God can take my weakness and turn it into something strong and beautiful.
I think this is my word for 2018. Believe. This is all God asks of me. I want to believe in His goodness and be grateful. Asking God to take away a murmuring spirit and give me a heart to believe Him. He promises me so much and tells me all that He has purchased for me. I just have to believe. His thoughts towards me are good, His plans for me are good. His love and faithfulness never fail me.
May we all have a heart to believe again.
You are valued.
You are favored and blessed by God
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."
"Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you."
Don't be afraid to ask God for what you need and for what you want.
"But do not ask for love unless you're ready to be healed enough to give and receive love. Do not ask for joy unless you're ready to feel and release your pain, so you can feel joy. Do not ask for success unless you're ready to conquer the behaviors that would sabotage success."
"All good things are ours for the asking. But first groundwork - preparation work - must be done. Let go of the behaviors and beliefs that interfere with nurturing and nourishing the good. Many of us have strong sabotaging programs, learned from childhood, that need to be released." (Melody Beattie in The Language of Letting Go)
May you find courage to be healed, to release your pain, and conquer old, sabotaging behaviors. Let go and Let God!
Praying today that you will have a revelation of God's faithful love to you, that you would know how valued and treasured you are by your Creator.
It's easy for me to read about the Israelites journey and think, "How in the world did they NOT trust God after all the miraculous interventions of God?"
They were in great distress in their slavery to the Egyptians, so God led them out of Egypt as God pronounced one judgement after another upon Pharaoh and his people.
The Israelites watched the mighty hand of God deliver them as their enemies drowned in the Red Sea, while they crossed over to freedom on dry ground.
Yet in the wilderness, they began to question God's goodness and His ability to supply food for them. Even though Moses had struck the rock, and rivers of water gushed forth - enough for a million plus people and their flocks - they still doubted the power of God to take care of them.
Is it hard for you to depend on God for His provision? for His deliverance?
TIME AFTER TIME I HAVE SEEN GOD MOVE ON MY BEHALF, but I still question His goodness. I am unable to believe that He is GOOD, and that the path He has for me is for my GOOD.
When we walk through the valleys and our world comes crashing in, what do you run to? What idols are exposed in the heat of the fire? Do you try to fix things yourself? Do you want to go back to your self-sufficient life, or would you rather see God's miraculous hand of deliverance, leading you with His cloud by day, and the light of His fire at night?
God wants us to know that He is with us through the deep waters. His love is powerful. His mercy is unending.
REMEMBER His power. He is able to deliver. Trust in His goodness.
I found myself recently praying over the destiny of our beautiful nation. As I was reading in the book of Revelation chapter 21, I realized that it's not just individuals that have a destiny, but nations as well.
"Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God."
"I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it."
America has been called to be a light, a City that is set on a Hill, that cannot be hidden. To stand up for those who cannot stand for themselves. To love one another as Christ loves the Church.
We have fallen short of this calling, but through repentance and forgiveness, God can redeem. That's who He is. He is full of grace and mercy, undeserved and freely given.
Lord, I pray that you would call forth this nation to glorify your name. Redeem us. Redeem the purposes of God for this nation. Give us your heart for one another, compassion and mercy, forgiveness and healing. Pull us out of the pit of our self-absorption, defiance and rebellion. Forgive us for the unthinkable things we have done to each other.
Thank you that your blood runs free. It is freely offered for our cleansing, with no respecter of persons. May this nation bring glory and honor to Your Name. All that we do, and all that we stand for. Clear our minds of the junk, the lies, jealousy, bitterness and pride. Lead us with the power of Your breath - Your Holy Word, the Truth that sets us free. Call us forth to fulfill the destiny appointed for America - a light and example of humility, serving the nations. Helping the weak. Preaching good news. We've lost our way. May your light break forth in the darkness and lead the way.
